PhotoBioModulation Therapy
(Therapeutic Laser)
What is PhotoBioModulation Therapy?
PhotoBioModulation Therapy (PBMT) is known by many terms, including cold laser or low-intensity laser. PBMT is a non-invasive, safe and painless therapy that targets the injured and/or inflamed tissues that affect the body including muscles, joints, cartilage, peripheral nerves, connective tissue, ligaments, fascia, skin and bone.

This light-based therapeutic technology is used around the world, it utilises powerful red & infrared laser together with Multi-Wavelength LEDs (class 3B) to increase the energy of cells and decrease oxidative stress in the body that is working sub-optimally – whether due to injury, stress or disease.
This treatment also affects a large volume of circulating blood as well as underlying tissues resulting in both a powerful systemic and direct modulation of the biological activity. The addition of PBMT can assist with chiropractic adjustment by decreasing inflammation and pain, increasing blood flow, accelerating tissue healing, modulating collagen production and other benefits.
The overall clinical effect of targeting both the injured cells and tissues as well as the surrounding circulatory system speeds up your body’s natural healing process safely and effectively.

What can patients expect?
Patients often ask what a laser treatment session feels like. It is basically painless, and due to increased blood circulation, there is sometimes a very minimal sensation of pleasant warmth over the affected area. The laser beam is held close to, or directly on the skin while treating specific injured areas, nerve distributions or referred pain patterns based on conditions.
Results vary in expected recovery time and reduced symptoms. Some patients notice immediate dramatic improvement of symptoms after just 1 or 2 treatments. With other patients, responses are more subtle, and gradual and require a complete treatment trial of at least 6 sessions before showing improvement.
